A “Four Seasons” Outdoor Kitchen in South Tulsa
This outdoor kitchen was designed for year-round pleasure and the changing seasons. With a back drop of beautiful gardens, trees and a large Koi pond, the covered outdoor living space provides a seamless continuation of this luxurious home into the outdoors. Whether entertaining family and friends or reading the morning news, a favorite book or simply sitting with your furry friend, it can provide a playground of fun and games or moments of quiet solitude. An outdoor fireplace faces comfortable conversation seating and generous dining accommodations. In harmony with the owners’ lifestyle, adjacent activity spaces include an integrated game room, swimming pool and tennis court.
Anatomy of an Outdoor Kitchen
This homeowner does not have to wait for a special occasion to use their outdoor kitchen. Stainless steel cabinets and appliances provide a timeless and durable clean look with the added feature of weather resistance. The two countertop work-spaces, are fabricated from single granite slabs. Stainless steel appliances include a refrigerator, ice machine, wine refrigerator, a custom beverage storage bin, dishwasher, rotisserie grill and side burner. A stainless-steel Vent-A-Hood exhaust system contains smoke generated by an array of meats and vegetables placed on the grill. Ceiling fans and recessed LED lights provide a bright and cool experience in any season. Media sources include several large screen televisions and surround sound. Lighting integration is provided by a Lutron radio frequency-controlled lighting system.
Utilitarian Considerations and Benefits
Entertaining, although fun, can be a lot of hard work. Special consideration was given to the client’s style of entertaining, local climate and the particulars of the job site. Practicality, serviceability, functionality and efficiency were a few of the many considerations that The Buckingham Group designed into this outdoor kitchen. Accessible weather-tight storage was a must to keep utensils, food and beverages clean and close at hand. Clean-up is a snap with the smooth hard surfaces and stainless-steel appliances.
Pull up a chair
Guests have an opportunity to be involved in the whole outdoor experience, whatever their mood. Woven metal barstools facing the cooking area not only allows the cook to be a part of the party but allows the guests to enjoy the whole food preparation experience. More seating for larger groups can be accommodated in the adjoining massive dining area. Then, it’s on to the fireplace sitting area with its cozy seating and beautiful views of the surrounding grounds.
