A wall separating the kitchen and family room was removed creating a combined space that would become the focus of family activities within the home. The ceiling of the family room was raised from 8’ to 10’ taking advantage of unused attic space. The traditional brick fireplace was replaced with a Cross Cut Travertine fireplace surround. Pella windows were added for additional light.

You spend hours every week in your master bathroom. From a quick shower on the way to work to a relaxing evening bath to soak away your aches and pains, your master bathroom is a haven in your busy life. Everyone wants a bathroomthat is a reflection of their personal style, as well as delivering comfort and convenience. When the time comes to renovate or upgrade your primary bath, it is vital to plan every detail to make sure you get the most from your “getaway” space.

Here are five things you need to keep in mind as you plan for your home remodel.

1. Layout

One of the most important things you need to keep in mind during a renovation is floor space. When you redo your bathroom, you have to think about where the plumbing is currently running. While the flooring and wall coverings may be your top concern, there are more items to think about during your renovation. Consider decorating options that add form as well as function–such as high-end countertops, a modern towel rack, and perfectly-chosen accessories.
